#CUT#It looks like Jackie Wackie has been cut. Ward swings for the body but Wackie moves out of range.
Ward wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Wackie takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Wackie misses with a series of wild punches.
Wackie looks to land a right hand but Ward moved out of range. Good standup being displayed there by Ward as he connects with a hook. Ward lands a nice looking body shot.
Wackie thuds his right hand into Ward's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. We've been hearing reports that Ward has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Wackie misses the shot to the body. Ward anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Wackie and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Ward slips an arm under Wackie chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Ward has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Ward is squeezing on Wackie like an anaconda would it's prey. Wackie fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Maxim Ward! After the fight, Maxim Ward was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |

Persia sets himself, and Wackie steps forward looking for the clinch! Persia avoids it this time. Wackie throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Wackie throws out a token jab with nothing on it.#CL# Persia instigates a clinch. Wackie's coach down at Clinch Pride was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Wackie's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Persia working aggressively here.
Wackie is trying to maintain a safe position but Persia gets an underhook and turns Wackie into the cage. Persia goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
#TD# Persia tightens his grip and picks Wackie up, before dumping him to the ground. Wackie manages to land in guard. Persia throwing strikes from guard but Wackie blocks nicely. Persia has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Persia with a flurry of punches that miss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Persia slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Wackie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Persia. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wackie. It looks like Smith has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Wackie avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Smith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wackie. Smith is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Wackie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smith . Nice body punch from Smith . Nice uppercut there from Smith . Barnes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Barnes throws a nice looking combination but Wackie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wackie cracks Ozuar with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Wackie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ozuar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jackie Wackie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ozuar goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Wackie misses with a two punch combination.
