Bromham landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bromham moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bateman is looking for a sweep. The ground and pound from Bromham seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Bromham controlling the position. #T1# Bromham working the head with strikes. Bromham has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. A lull in the action here. Bateman is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Bromham is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. It looks like Bromham might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Harrington working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bromham's head. Harrington tries to free his leg and advance position but Bromham is retaining full guard. Bromham tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bromham bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Harrington's guard. #REVB# Bromham sitting in guard, not really doing much. It looks like Bromham might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... #R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gong ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Gong with a nice cross. Gong throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Gong stuns Bromham with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Gong scores with a hook to the body. Bromham takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Bromham fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Bromham's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gong connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Bromham scrambles back to his feet. Bromham doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Gong dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A decent looking cross lands there for Gong. Gong with a body punch. A glancing blow. Gong ducks under a wild hook from Bromham. Nice cross by Gong.#T1# Gong paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.#TD2# Bromham shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gong is trying to defend but Bromham finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Bromham is figuring out what he wants to do next. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Skowronek throws a series of punches but Bromham avoids them all with ease. Bromham decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Skowronek is looking to get back to is feet but Bromham passes into side control.
Bromham lands an elbow. Bromham is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Skowronek's shoulder. That is not cool. Bromham misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Bromham cracks Skowronek with a big right hand but Skowronek just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Skowronek really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bromham. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bromham throwing shots but missing, from side control. Bromham is working Skowronek over with some ground and pound from side control. Bromham is staying tight to Skowronek's torso, preventing him from escaping. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bromham has knee on belly and now moves to full mount!
