and Vernon counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lazurus is looking to stand up but Vernon isn't so interested in that idea.
Vernon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Vernon postures up in Lazurus's guard and throws a big left but Lazurus blocks it.
Lazurus is wriggling around but Vernon manages to pass to half guard.
Vernon looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Lazurus on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vernon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lazurus's head.
Still in half guard, Vernon seems content to control.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vernon connects with a nice short shot to Lazurus's temple. #T1#
Vernon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lazurus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mazzariello closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Lazurus is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mazzariello connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lazurus some visible discomfort.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Mazzariello might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mazzariello throws an elbow but Lazurus slips to the side and avoids it well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Mazzariello is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Let's hope that Mazzariello has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
