The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahr fails with an attempt to clinch.
Virus swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Virus fails with a takedown attempt.
Ahr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Virus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ahr throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Ahr misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ahr misses with a series of wild punches.
Virus keeps the fight on the outside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ahr misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Virus counters with a stiff right hand.
Virus dives in for a single leg takedown but Ahr sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Ahr wants to clinch but Virus slips to the side
and Virus counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ahr tries to close the distance and clinch but Virus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Virus appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ahr tries to clinch there but Virus circles away.
Ahr moves in looking to clinch but Virus pushes him off.
Ahr tries to clinch up.
Ahr is looking to clinch.
Ahr tries to clinch but Virus moves out of range.
Gustav Ahr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Virus drives through with a takedown into Ahr's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Ahr pushes Virus off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Ahr tries to clinch there but Virus circles away.
Virus is looking for a counter combo.
Virus avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ahr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Ahr takes the fight into the clinch.

Virus has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ahr is trying to keep an underhook but Virus manages to get the takedown into half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Virus not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Virus connects with a nice short shot to Ahr's temple.
Ahr has hold of Virus's hands but Virus slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Virus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ahr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Virus winds up and cracks Ahr with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Virus not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Virus seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ahr trying to control here.
Virus working Ahr over with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Virus working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Virus lands a nice short elbow.
Ahr looks winded!

Ahr is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Virus scores with a couple of nice shots.

Ahr on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Virus is looking to take a break and control but Ahr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Virus lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Virus lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Virus tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Ahr is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Virus lands some shots froms side control.
Ahr is working to avoid the ground and pound but Virus connects with a decent elbow.
Virus lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Virus works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ahr is rocked!
Virus cracks Ahr with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Virus immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Ahr is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Virus!
