The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beast fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it.
Diaz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Beast misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Beast throws a big shot that misses.#TD#
Beast closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Diaz quickly recovers to half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Beast's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Beast tries to pass the half guard into mount. Diaz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Beast seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Beast is keen to just control but Diaz is a slippery customer.
Beast working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Beast wants to pass to mount but Diaz is defending the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beast is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Diaz is hurt! He's hurt bad - Beast fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Diaz from any more punishment! Congratulations to Beast! Great finish!
