The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boyer gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Finger counters with a straight right hand. Boyer throws a hook but Finger avoids it easily. Boyer tries for a takedown but Finger circles away easily and Finger connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Damion Boyer has been cut. Boyer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Finger.
Boyer tries to clinch letting Finger counter with a right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boyer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Finger avoids it really well and circles away. A little feinted left hand from Finger on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Middle Finger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damion Boyer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyer dives in and grabs Finger's left leg, looking for a takedown. Finger pushes down on Boyer's head and hops out. Boyer fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Finger defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Boyer. Boyer fails with the takedown and Finger connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Boyer looks winded! Finger blocks the body kick.
Finger is looking to counter punch. Boyer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Finger cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Boyer throws a leg kick that is checked and Finger makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Boyer tries for a takedown but Finger circles away easily and Finger cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Boyer is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boyer misses with a takedown and Finger counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Boyer out cold! What a finish! Finger is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Boyer enables Perkins to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Boyer manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Boyer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perkins on the ground. Boyer wants to get back to his feet but Perkins is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Perkins trying to control but Boyer is working from the bottom. Perkins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Boyer works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Perkins controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Perkins trying to control but Boyer is working from the bottom. Perkins stands up from guard. Let's bang! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perkins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Boyer quickly recovers to half guard. Boyer is refusing to be controlled, as Perkins sits in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perkins working the head and body with strikes. Perkins working over Boyer with some ground and pound. Boyer looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Perkins seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Perkins is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Perkins stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Boyer to get to his feet. Boyer throws a series of punches but Perkins moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Perkins avoids the head kick by Boyer.
A countering left hand to the body from Perkins misses. The fight moves into the clinch position. Perkins goes for a takedown in the clinch but Boyer prevents it.
Boyer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Perkins fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Perkins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Boyer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Perkins distracts Boyer with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Boyer looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Perkins working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perkins trying to control but Boyer is working from the bottom. Perkins stands and steps away. Boyer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Perkins gets a double leg takedown into Boyer's guard. Boyer is breathing heavily. Perkins is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Perkins passes Boyer's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Perkins wants to control but Boyer is keeping him busy. Perkins stands up out of the half guard. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Perkins. Perkins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Perkins drops an elbow to the side of Boyer's head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Boyer is not content to let Perkins control the position. Perkins working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
TJ Perkins dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Perkins manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Boyer on his heels. He'll look to pass Boyer's guard now, I'm sure. Perkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boyer swivels though and keeps the full guard. Perkins is in close to Boyer's body, working some short punches and elbows. Perkins controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Perkins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perkins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. The fight stays on the outside here - Boyer looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Perkins has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Boyer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Boyer wants it to stay on the feet. Boyer goes for a double leg but Perkins avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Perkins continues to drive forward. Boyer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Boyer misses with a two punch combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Boyer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Perkins. Perkins fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Damion Boyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of TJ Perkins. Perkins closes the distance and pushes Boyer back into the cage. Perkins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Perkins tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. The fight moves into the clinch position. Perkins manages to break the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action! A lazy body kick from Perkins and Boyer counters with a left and a right that stings Perkins. Perkins tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Boyer defends well and Perkins ends up having to push Boyer into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Perkins has closed the distance and engaged Boyer in a clinch.
Boyer misses with a knee to the head. Boyer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boyer throws a head kick that misses. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Perkins.
Perkins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boyer's guard. Boyer is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Perkins presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Perkins tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Boyer just stands there and leans against the cage. Perkins tries to pull guard but Boyer won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Perkins leaning his opponent against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Boyer misses with a hook from the clinch. Perkins drags the fight down to the ground.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Boyer wants to stand back up but Perkins manages to pass into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Perkins lands a few punches from side control. Perkins has an Americana. Boyer didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Perkins is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Perkins hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
