The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Corneille drives through with a takedown into guard. Corneille content to stall in guard here. Stroker is looking to stand up but Corneille isn't so interested in that idea. Corneille sitting in guard here, content to control. Stroker has his foot on Corneille's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Corneille works his way back into a safe position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stroker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Corneille is one step ahead there. Corneille stays in close to Stroker's body and controls the position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Corneille has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Stroker shoots in looking for a takedown. Corneille tries to sprawl out of it but Stroker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Corneille manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. A looping hook to the body misses from Stroker. Corneille does a little dance to reset his feet. Corneille drops down looking for a counter takedown but Stroker sprawls and moves away. Stroker shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Corneille counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Corneille wants the takedown. Stroker is fighting it off but Corneille persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Stroker's guard against the cage. Corneille controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Corneille lands a couple of elbows. Corneille cracks Stroker with a solid left hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Corneille's corner is telling him to maintain position. Corneille seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stroker for as long as he can get away with. Corneille makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Corneille is pushing down on Stroker's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stroker is fighting to maintain full guard but Corneille has managed to sneak the leg through. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Stroker is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Corneille scores with a couple of nice shots. Stroker looking for submissions off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stroker pushes Corneille off looking to stand but Corneille dives back in and keeps control.
Nice strikes from Corneille there. Corneille landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Corneille lands strikes from half guard. Corneille takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Corneille looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Corneille moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Stroker. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Corneille is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Corneille grinds an elbow into Stroker's temple. Corneille in side control, just content to control the action for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Corneille in side control lands a decent elbow. Corneille working the head and body with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dany Corneille dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Stroker shoots in for a takedown but Corneille shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Corneille appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Stroker tries for a takedown but Corneille sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Stroker misses with the body kick and Corneille counters with a nice double leg into guard. Stroker is looking to stand back up but Corneille counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Stroker.
Corneille is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stroker can do to turn this around? Corneille controlling the action here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. This is a sustained period of stalling by Corneille.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stroker is trying to get back to full guard. Stroker is trying to escape back to his feet but Corneille uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Corneille controlling the position. Corneille has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dany Corneille overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Corneille is working Stroker over with some ground and pound from side control. Stroker is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stroker trying to remain calm as Corneille controls from the top position. Corneille working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Corneille slows the pace down. Corneille cracks Stroker with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Corneille stalls from top position. Corneille continues to hold on tight. Corneille grinds an elbow into Stroker's temple. Stroker is being controlled here. Stroker is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A lull in the action here as Corneille stalls from top position. Corneille works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Corneille is staying tight to Stroker's torso, preventing him from escaping. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stroker is trying to improve his position. The referee asks Corneille politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Corneille prefers to stall for the moment though. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Stroker is trying to get back to half guard. Stroker is being controlled here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dany Corneille dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Corneille feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Stroker has momentary wrist control but Corneille slips an elbow through the middle. Corneille engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Corneille forces his way into half guard. Corneille is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's one minute gone in the round. Corneille is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Corneille controlling the pace for now. Corneille putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Corneille raining down shots from the mount! Corneille working the ground and pound effectively.
Stroker is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Corneille scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Stroker is still in real trouble! Can Corneille finish him? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Corneille looking to control and managing it successfully. Corneille looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Stroker covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
