The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Connor jabs at White's body. O Connor misses with a body shot.
White replies with a solid counter kick to the body but O Connor blocks it well. O Connor keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
It looks like mr White has been cut. White shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says O Connor as he avoids it easily. O Connor wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. White fails in his attempt to clinch. O Connor has taken the fight to the clinch.
White wants to take the fight to the mat but O Connor manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Nice body punch from O Connor - that landed with a thud.
O Connor lands a left hand.
O Connor cracks White with a nice body shot. White looks winded! The referee calls for O Connor to work.
O Connor displaying some good clinch control by pressing White up against the cage. O Connor presses White against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. O Connor lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. O Connor throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Whites head.

O Connor leaning his opponent against the cage. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Brian O Connor. O Connor throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. O Connor connects with a looping right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. O Connor forces White back against the cage and clinches. O Connor throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. O Connor lands a hook that snaps the head of White backwards.
White is rocked! O Connor slows down the pace here.
O Connor is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with O Connor for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. A right hand to the body from O Connor.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. O Connor lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. White is still on wobbly legs! Can O Connor finish him? O Connor dips a shoulder and cracks White with a mighty uppercut! White falls back against the cage and O Connor unloads with a barrage of strikes! White is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - O Connor screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brian O Connor! Brian O Connor was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed. |

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith darts in looking for a takedown but White gets double underhooks and turns Smith into the cage. White rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily. White closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Smith's guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Smith holds on and takes a little breather. White advances to half guard. White tries to pass to full mount but Smith defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. White connects with a nice short shot to Smith's temple. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. White stops Smith from getting back to his feet.
White has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Smith wants to get back to full guard. Smith trying to control here.
That's one minute gone in the round. White is trying to control. Smith wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. White wants to pass to mount but Smith is defending the position. Smith is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Smith is trying to maintain the position but White is very close to passing his half guard. White sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Smith defending well though. White throwing shots but Smith is blocking nicely. Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. White throws a strike but Smith avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Smith working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from White. White stands and throws Smith's legs to the side, diving into side control. Smith is trying to escape the position but White is controlling the position. Smith can't do much from the bottom here. White wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well. White thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. White tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no White has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Smith manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! White actively working from the bottom here. White trying to hold on to Smith's head to control him but Smith postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on White's thigh. White counters though and makes it back to full guard. Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as White works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but White is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smith tries to stand but White is controlling from the bottom. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! White preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. White tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. White manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. White defends it nicely. White shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as White sprawls well. White wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. White is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Smith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but White defends well and Smith ends up having to push White into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Smith clinches up with White and pushes him back against the cage.

Matthew Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith misses with a takedown and White counters by clinching up. Smith lands a nice shot to the body. Smith tries for a takedown but White manages to get underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Smith is trying to pull guard but White has him pressed against the cage. White tightens his grip and picks Smith up, before dumping him to the ground. Smith manages to land in guard. Smith has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. White is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. White pulls guard successfully.
White keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully. Smith with a flurry of punches that miss. White throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Smith wants to pass the guard but White is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. White wants to control but Smith passes easily into half guard.
Smith with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Smith throwing shots but White is blocking nicely. White is controlling Smith's trapped leg to prevent Smith from advancing to side control. Smith is thwarting White's attempts to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Smith trying to pass the guard but White defending well. Smith stands up and beckons White to join him on the feet. White scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Smith throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! White shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed White's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. White is breathing heavily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. White fails with a takedown attempt. Smith takes a kick to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Smith dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
White leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like mr White has been cut. Smith clinches up against the cage. Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

White clinches up with Smith and pushes him back against the cage. Smith is trying to pull guard but White has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as White walks away with a smile on his face. Smith gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. White closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away. Smith scores with a head kick. White tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. White pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. A looping hook to the body misses from White. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet. Smith throws a front kick that sends White stumbling back into the cage. White stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and White wants it to stay on the feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smith clinches up with White and pushes him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Smith obliges. Smith tries to pull guard but White holds him up against the cage and eventually Smith drops back down to his feet.
Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
White fails with a takedown attempt. Smith slips a straight right by White. Smith clinches with his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action! White gets underhooks to prevent Smith's takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith breaks from the clinch.
White looks for a takedown but Smith sprawls well. Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That kick from Smith tenderised White's leg. White is trying to keep his angry face on. Smith gets caught napping as White dives in and scores a takedown. Smith manages to retain guard. White is standing up over Smith. Smith looks to escape but White dives into side control.
Smith struggling a bit here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith is looking for a sweep. White looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. White grinds an elbow into Smith's temple. White stands up and beckons Smith to his feet. Smith tries to clinch but White moves out of range.
And that's the end of the fight! Matthew Smith showed his dominance in that final round. I think Smith has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! White shoots in looking for a takedown but Guy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing White's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Guy swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Guy throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling White to counter with a crisp jab. White changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Guy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Guy is not content to let White control the position. White has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Guy! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Guy is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's one minute gone in the round. White trying to control but Guy is having none of it. Guy is trying to stand but he's just given White his back. Guy takes a big shot to the side of the head.
White working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Guy is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and White has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Guy taps out!
