Nathan Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wayne paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Nice sprawl there from Wayne as Diaz shoots in. Wayne throws out a counter right but Diaz avoids it with no problem. Diaz with a poor takedown and Wayne counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Wayne counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Wayne walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Diaz drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Wayne swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Diaz's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Salvador is trying to maintain the position but Diaz is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Salvador might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Diaz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Salvador does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Salvador trying to control but Diaz postures up.
Diaz is just content to waste time from the top position. Salvador takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Diaz being controlled here momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
