#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Apolinario looks for a takedown but Kolesov sprawls well. Apolinario shoots in for a takedown but Kolesov shows good takedown defense. Kolesov appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Apolinario fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joao Apolinario. That's going to take a lot out of him. Apolinario gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kolesov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Apolinario tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Apolinario drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Joao Apolinario seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Apolinario misses with a takedown attempt and Kolesov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Apolinario has his takedown stuffed letting Kolesov counter with a right hand. #T1# Kolesov throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Apolinario's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Kolesov dives in looking to finish as Apolinario flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Kolesov's strikes! Kolesov is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Apolinario's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Apolinario was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

A jab from Kolesov finds it's way through Nurmagotaptap's defenses. Nurmagotaptap fails with a takedown attempt. Kolesov lands with a shot to the body. Nurmagotaptap tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kolesov swivels and escapes. Kolesov drops down looking for a counter takedown but Nurmagotaptap sprawls and moves away. Jab by Kolesov. Nurmagotaptap doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kolesov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. We've been told by Kolesov's head coaches at Average Joe’s Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Evgeny Kolesov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khabitch Nurmagotaptap. Nurmagotaptap shoots and misses #CL# and Kolesov moves into the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Nurmagotaptap. Kolesov stalling.

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kolesov scores with a sloppy right hand. Van Vactor should have avoided that one. #CUT#It looks like Ethan Van Vactor has been cut. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Van Vactor has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Kolesov scores with a jab to the jaw. Kolesov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Van Vactor manages to avoid it. Van Vactor shoots for a double leg takedown but Kolesov sprawls well. He's pushed Van Vactor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. We've been told by Kolesov's head coaches at Average Joe’s Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Kolesov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kolesov fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lannister on the side of the head. Kolesov ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Lannister shoots in for a double leg but Kolesov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Kolesov scores with a body shot.

and Leyva counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Leyva displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Evgeny Kolesov has been cut. Kolesov misses with an uppercut. Leyva saw that one coming. Kolesov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Leyva to the mat! Leyva manages to get full guard. Leyva is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kolesov's corner is telling him to maintain position. Leyva preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kolesov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Kolesov tries to free his leg and advance position but Leyva is retaining full guard. Leyva is looking to stand up but Kolesov isn't so interested in that idea.
