#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pierce cracks a nice hook into Ruiz's ribs. Ruiz fails with an attempt to clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Ruiz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Ruiz shoots in looking for a takedown. Pierce tries to sprawl out of it but Ruiz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pierce manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Pierce is looking for the big counter here. Ruiz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A cross from Pierce lands. Nice shot lands for Pierce. Ruiz shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. #KD2# Pierce lands a left and a right that sends Ruiz crashing to the canvas! Pierce dives into mount looking to finish!#ROC2#Ruiz is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Pierce looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Ruiz covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. McDowe has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.#TD# Ruiz gets a takedown into half guard.#ES2# McDowe pushes Ruiz off and gets back to his feet. McDowe lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by McDowe. Ruiz tries to score with a low kick but McDowe moves his leg out of the way. Freddie McDowe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.#TD# McDowe gets caught flat footed, as Ruiz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. McDowe has control of Ruiz's left arm, preventing Ruiz from doing any damage. McDowe trying to keep a closed guard but Ruiz is proving a slippery customer.
#T1# Ruiz connects with a couple of short punches. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruiz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McDowe is adopting a defensive guard. Ruiz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Ruiz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McDowe swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ruiz stopping the sweep attempt from McDowe.#T2# The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ruiz content to stall in guard here. #REF3# The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. McDowe stuns Ruiz with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.#TD# Ruiz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McDowe quickly recovers to half guard. Ruiz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Ruiz tries to pass the half guard into mount. McDowe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Ruiz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. #SUB# Ruiz seems to be looking for submissions.
McDowe wants to control but Ruiz is keeping busy.

I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.#SUB# Ruiz is working for a submission of some sort.
#SUB# Ruiz is working for an americana but McDowe has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Ruiz was thinking about the submission. Ruiz preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ruiz engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Freddie McDowe will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!#R2# McDowe scores with a hook. Ruiz tries to score a power double leg takedown but McDowe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ruiz somewhat. McDowe moves out of range as Ruiz throws a body kick.
McDowe works Ruiz's body with a nice hook. McDowe throws a shot to the body.
McDowe throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ruiz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. McDowe throws a series of strikes that have Ruiz backpedaling.
#CUT2#It looks like Jerry Ruiz has been cut. McDowe lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Ruiz falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!

Freddie McDowe decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. |

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz misses with a takedown and Miles counters with a straight right hand. Ruiz wants to clinch and Miles counters with a left and a right that stings Ruiz. Miles circles away from the clinch attempt and Miles makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Miles lands with a thumping leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruiz with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Miles to score with a decent uppercut. Ruiz tries to clinch and Miles counters with a straight right hand. Jerry Ruiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ruiz closes the distance but Miles moves to the side and Miles counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. #T1# Ruiz doesn't succeed with the takedown and Miles counters with a right hand to the body. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Miles circles away from the clinch attempt and Miles counters with a lovely straight right hand! Miles jabs at Ruiz's body. Ruiz shoots and misses enabling Miles to counter with a crisp jab. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerry Ruiz. That's going to take a lot out of him.#T2# Ruiz misses with a takedown and Miles counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Miles with a nice calf kick. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ruiz is defended easily by Miles. Ruiz has his takedown stuffed and Miles counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ruiz wants to clinch but Miles slips to the side and Miles counters with a lovely shot to the body. Nice shot by Miles.#T3# Ruiz closes the distance looking to clinch and Miles connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ruiz moves to clinch but Miles breaks away and Miles counters with a left to the body. Danga de danga de dang - Miles scores with a four punch combination! Ruiz misses with a takedown and Miles counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.#CL2# Miles closes the distance and pushes Ruiz back into the cage. Ruiz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ruiz is trying to pull guard but Miles turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.#T4# Ruiz throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Miles blocks it with crossed arms. Ruiz is trying to break free. Ruiz can't break the clinch.
Ruiz is working for takedown but Miles is calmly controlling the position for now.#BC2# Miles breaks from the clinch.
Miles slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Ruiz throws a body kick that misses and Miles counters with a nice uppercut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ruiz drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Miles lands a really nice looking cross but Ruiz seems unphased.
#ROC2#Ruiz is rocked! Ruiz throws a lazy head kick and Miles counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Ruiz! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Miles!
