Silva feints and as Spar raises his hands in defense, Silva changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silva controls the pace.
Silva has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.#SUB#
Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Silva seems to have locked his on tight now - Spar screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Silva , as he picks up the win!

A left and a right from Oconner both land. Nice combination.
Oconner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Silva throws out the jab.
Silva gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Silva throws a shot from downtown. Oconner moves away and avoids it.
Silva misses with a jab, cross combination.
Silva rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Oconner counters with a stiff right hand.
Oconner slips a jab and a cross from Silva .
Oconner blocks a jab.
Silva connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Silva loads up on a big right hand but Oconner slips the punch.
Oconner cracks Silva with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oconner on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Silva has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Oconner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Silva from any more punishment! Silva complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
