Sampson trying to control from half guard but Peterson is working away. #SUB# Sampson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Peterson is just riding it out for now. Sampson eventually gives up the hold. Peterson pushes Sampson off looking to stand but Sampson dives back in and keeps control.
Peterson tries to roll over but Sampson keeps him under control. Sampson wants to pass the guard but Peterson is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB# Sampson is looking for a kimura but Peterson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sampson to get the leverage. Peterson is trying to get back to full guard.#T1##SUB# Sampson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Peterson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sampson. Sampson prevents Peterson from standing back up.
#SUB# Sampson seems to be working for a kimura but Peterson defends the submission attempt. Sampson works his way into side control. Peterson is looking to reverse the position.#SUB# Sampson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T2##SUB# The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Sampson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Peterson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. #SUB# Sampson has hold of Peterson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Peterson seems comfortable defending it but Sampson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Peterson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Peterson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Sampson couldn't care less - he's delighted!

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peterson blocks a head kick by Bonner.
Bonner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Peterson. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Peterson! But no joy. Bonner misses with a wild body shot. Bonner connects with a leg kick. Peterson slips a jab from Bonner. A slapping leg kick lands for Bonner.
Bonner throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Peterson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Bonner thinking. Peterson slips a straight right by Bonner. It seemed like Peterson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Bonner fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Peterson. Bonner swings for the body but Peterson moves out of range.
Peterson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Peterson walks into a stiff left hand from Bonner. Bonner takes a swing at Peterson's ribcage but misses. Bonner shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Peterson eats them both and turns towards Bonner to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. This has been an exciting period of action! Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Bonner throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Peterson is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Myke Bonner! Myke Bonner was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed. |

Flint attempts a counter takedown but Peterson avoids it well and moves away. Flint throws a poor cross that misses
and Peterson counters with a nice body shot. Flint fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Peterson manages to avoid it. Peterson lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. We've been hearing reports that Flint has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Peterson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Flint half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Flint is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Flint wants to control the pace but Peterson is squirming around nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nice work by Flint.

Abreu throws a lazy head kick and Peterson counters with a nice uppercut. Abreu has a takedown stuffed. Abreu looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Peterson is fending him off so far but Abreu persists. Nope, Peterson circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Darius Rucker really struggled with his weight cut for this fight. After coming in at 148.3, he had two hours to cut the additional weight. He was unable to do so and as a result, his fight with Danny Peterson was cancelled. |
