The fight stays on the outside here - Irons looks like he's thinking about clinching though.#TD# Portman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Irons quickly recovers to half guard. Irons is trying to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB# Irons is defending against the submission attempts here by Portman.
#SUB# Portman maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Irons could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Portman has cracked it and Irons is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Portman!

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Irons staying out of range there. Marquese looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Irons uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Marquese. Irons slips under a jab from Marquese. A telegraphed right hand from Marquese misses the target. A decent looking cross lands there for Marquese. Marquese throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Irons. Irons is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Marquese's coach down at Tricksters Fighting was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Marquese's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Marquese is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Marquese uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Irons. Irons connects with the punch. Marquese swats away the attempt to clinch by Irons. A little jabbing left from Marquese on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Irons uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Marquese. Irons fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Irons scores with a sloppy right hand. Marquese should have avoided that one. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Irons throws a right hand that Marquese ducks under and follows up with a left that Marquese also avoids with ease. Marquese walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Irons drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Marquese swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Irons's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
