#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good exchange - Grang coming out on top. Sanchez throws a series of punches but Grang moves out of range. Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown but Grang manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sanchez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Hinski Grang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Left hook, right uppercut from Grang. Grang misses with a looping right. Grang throws a nice looking combination but Sanchez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Sanchez is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. A jab from Grang misses. Grang misses with a double jab.
Good shot there by Grang. Sanchez ducks under a wild hook from Grang. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanchez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Grang defends it nicely. Sanchez throws a body shot but no joy. Grang swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Sanchez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Grang is looking to counter punch. Hinski Grang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Sanchez. Grang misses the jab. Grang keeps the fight on the outside. Sanchez looks to land a body kick but Grang moved away.#T1# Grang looks to land a left hand but Sanchez moved out of range nicely. Grang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Sanchez finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Grang swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sanchez throws a sloppy head kick and Grang moves out of range easily. Sanchez on the wrong end of a nice jab. Grang swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Grang but Grang pushes him off and we're back to square one. Grang stuffs the takedown. #R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway!#TD2# Xao shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Xao showed some decent athleticism there. Sanchez is concentrating on defense, preventing Xao from advancing position. Sanchez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Xao is working away from the top position though. Xao trying to control from half guard but Sanchez is working away. Xao is just content to waste time from the top position. Sanchez takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Xao working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Xao must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Xao trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. #T1# Xao might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sanchez haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Xao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard. #REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Xao as he jumps to the side. Xao stuffs the takedown attempt from Sanchez. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet. #TD2# Xao gets the takedown into side control. #SUB2# Xao is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sanchez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. #T2# Xao tries to move to mount but Sanchez blocks the move with his legs. Xao wants to control but Sanchez is keeping him busy. #SU2# Xao stands up and we're back to a striking position. Xao pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Sanchez stopping the sweep attempt from Xao. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Xao can do anything to dispel that myth. Xao working a defensive guard but Sanchez manages to pass into side control anyway.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sanchez is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Xao rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sanchez throws a counter high kick but Xao was just alert enough to avoid it. A looping hook to the body misses from Sanchez. Xao does a little dance to reset his feet. Xao shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanchez as he avoids it easily. Xao lands a right hook to the body.
