#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saitiev throws a right hand that misses
and Vieira makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Saitiev swinging wildly here.
A nice combination there by Vieira.
A slow jab from Saitiev misses its intended target. Saitiev misses with a looping right. Saitiev misses with a right hand #TD2# and Vieira counters with a single leg into guard. Saitiev didn't expect that. Saitiev managing to control the position. Saitiev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Vieira wanted to stand there but Saitiev had control of the position. Vieira wants to pass the guard but Saitiev is keeping the position.#T1# Saitiev being controlled here, momentarily. Let's hope that Vieira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Vieira throws a big right hand that misses. #REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.#T2# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Saitiev pushing out the jab but it's not landing. #TD2# A momentary lapse in concentration from Saitiev enables Vieira to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Saitiev manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Vieira passes Saitiev's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Saitiev keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Vieira seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Vieira thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Vieira trying to advance position but Saitiev counters by regaining guard. #SUB2# Vieira drops back, looking for a kneebar! Saitiev looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Saitiev looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Saitiev! #REVR# Saitiev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.#T3# Vieira is looking to reverse the position. Saitiev grinds an elbow into Vieira's temple. Vieira is looking for a sweep. Saitiev cracks Vieira with a big right hand but Vieira just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Saitiev working away. Vieira is looking to reverse the position. Saitiev looks up at the clock and then as Vieira takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Saitiev smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Saitiev remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. #T4# Vieira misses with a strike from the bottom. Saitiev in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Vieira struggling a bit here. Saitiev controls the position. Vieira is trying to control Saitiev's posture but Saitiev avoids it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vieira tries to buck Saitiev off but Saitiev is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Reinaldo Vieira dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. #TD2# and Vieira decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Saitiev's guard. Saitiev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vieira on the ground. Vieira wants to control from the top but Saitiev keeps moving. Reinaldo Vieira has got the better of the ground game so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#T1# Vieira wants to pass the guard but Saitiev is keeping the position. Vieira not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Vieira wants to control from the top but Saitiev keeps moving. #REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Saitiev displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vieira. Saitiev connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Vieira throws a low kick, looking for Saitiev's leg but Saitiev calmly moves out of range. Vieira doesn't manage to clinch there - Saitiev circles away.
#T2# Saitiev is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vieira. Saitiev circles away from the clinch attempt.
Saitiev was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Vieira uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Saitiev. Vieira wants to counter the offense by Saitiev and move into the clinch position. Nice defenses there by Vieira. Saitiev throws a shot from downtown. Vieira moves away and avoids it. Vieira avoids a punch combination nicely.

Saitiev is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Vieira shoots in for a double leg but Saitiev sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Vieira tries for a takedown but Saitiev circles away easily and Saitiev counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Zelim Saitiev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reinaldo Vieira. Vieira is breathing heavily. Saitiev throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vieira sees it coming and avoids it easily. Vieira is looking to land body kicks. Saitiev throws a body shot but no joy. BOOM! Saitiev lands a beautiful left hook that drops Vieira. Vieira tries to recover but Saitiev is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Vieira lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zelim Saitiev! After winning the bout, Zelim Saitiev thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
