#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mia tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chiamev defends well and Mia ends up having to push Chiamev into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Chiamev shoots in for a takedown but Mia shows good takedown defense. Mia changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Mia fails with a takedown attempt. Chiamev shoots in for a takedown but Mia shows good takedown defense. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chiamev. Mia tries to counter with a takedown but Chiamev is quick to defend against it. Damian Mia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khabib Chiamev. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#TD# Mia drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Mia showing good wrestling skills to control the position. #T1# Chiamev has control of Mia's left arm, preventing Mia from doing any damage. Mia pushing down on Chiamev's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Mia trying to pass the guard but Chiamev defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chiamev wants to get back to full guard. Mia moves into full mount! Chiamev won't be happy about that! Mia takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Chiamev is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Mia off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Mia is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Mia controls the action. Mia tries to keep control of the position but Chiamev is staying busy.#T3# What can Chiamev do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
#SUB# Mia is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Chiamev has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Mia biding his time, looking for the opening.

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hyypia swings away with a leg kick that misses. An inside leg kick lands from Hyypia. Hyypia looks for the body kick but Chiamev saw that one coming. Hyypia fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Chiamev. A bone on bone clash there as Chiamev blocks the leg kick.
Chiamev feints the counter takedown. Hyypia throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Chiamev's head. Hyypia shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. #TD2# Hyypia gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.#ES# Hyypia pushes Chiamev off and scrambles back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chiamev keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Hyypia lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Hyypia slaps away a takedown attempt from Chiamev, before circling back to the center of the mat. Eetu Hyypia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#T1# Hyypia misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hyypia throws a series of punches but Chiamev avoids them all with ease. Hyypia throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Chiamev chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hyypia can pounce on him.
Hyypia scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Chiamev takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Hyypia fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Chiamev. Nice shot by Hyypia. Hyypia stalks Chiamev and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Chiamev's face. Chiamev staggers backwards, shaken. Hyypia fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Chiamev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.#T2# Hyypia tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. And Chiamev tries to counter it with a takedown but Hyypia pushes his down on his head and steps out. Hyypia thows a leg kick but Chiamev checks it #TD2# and Chiamev counters with a takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chiamev misses with the ground and pound. Chiamev throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Chiamev working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Chiamev lands a decent elbow from side control. Chiamev grinds an elbow into Hyypia's temple. Chiamev tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Hyypia is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Chiamev is controlling him well. Chiamev is chipping away with strikes.
#ES# Hyypia bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!#T3##TD2# Chiamev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chiamev cracks Hyypia with an elbow. That is naaassty. Hyypia is trying to buck Chiamev off. Chiamev working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Chiamev working the body and head with strikes. Chiamev lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. #ROC2#Hyypia is rocked! A big shot lands for Chiamev! That's hurt Hyypia! Will he recover? Chiamev fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Khabib Chiamev! Khabib Chiamev spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant. |
