James lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB# Panj looking for submissions off his back. James is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Panj! #T1# Panj tries to hold on but James postures up. James controlling his opponent. Panj regains half guard. James tries to pass the half guard into mount. Panj knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. #SUB# Panj has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for James. Oh but Panj has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! James goes limp - he's gone! Panj jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lopez looks to land a left hand but James moved out of range nicely. Lopez with a poor takedown and James counters with a left to the body. #TD2# Lopez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. James gets full guard. Lopez trying to control but James is working from the bottom. James not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lopez slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.#SUB2# Lopez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. James knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. #SUB2# Lopez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. #T1##SUB2# Lopez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. #SUB2# Lopez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lopez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Lopez in side control, throwing shots but James defends. #SUB2# Lopez has worked his way into a potential kimura here. James is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Lopez yanks on the arm and James is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Lopez.
