#R1# Velasquez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shifter stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. We've been hearing reports that Shifter has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.#CL2# Shifter gets tackled into the cage by Velasquez. Velasquez maintains the clinch. #TD# Shifter jumps guard and drags Velasquez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. #SUB# Shifter has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Velasquez should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Shifter has tightened it up now! Velasquez should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

#R1# Gnarr misses with a straight right. Velasquez tries to land a front kick but Gnarr steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Gnarr tries to clinch there but Velasquez circles away.
Gnarr fails with a takedown attempt. Gnarr misses with a head kick.
Velasquez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A big left from Velasquez misses. Velasquez throws an off balance right hand
#CL2# and Gnarr counters by clinching up. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Velasquez. Velasquez misses with a punch to the body.
#TD2# Gnarr has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Velasquez regains guard immediately. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gnarr wants to pass the guard but Velasquez is keeping the position. Gnarr stands and throws Velasquez's legs to the side, diving into side control. Gnarr controls the position from side control.#T1# Gnarr tries to stand but Velasquez is controlling his head. Velasquez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gnarr is controlling him well. Velasquez tries to buck Gnarr off but Gnarr is having none of it. Velasquez is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Velasquez's coaches at Old School Training have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.#SUB2# Gnarr is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Velasquez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Velasquez wants to control but Gnarr postures up. Gnarr tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Velasquez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gnarr's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.#T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.#ES# Velasquez has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Gnarr is on him like a limpet, forcing Velasquez back against the cage. Velasquez misses with a hook from the clinch. Velasquez lands with a short head shot on the inside. Velasquez stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Gnarr goes for a takedown in the clinch but Velasquez prevents it.
#TD2# Gnarr gets control of Velasquez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gnarr will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Velasquez tries to free his leg and advance position but Gnarr is retaining full guard. Velasquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Gnarr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Velasquez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Gnarr is pulling down on Velasquez's head to control his posture. Velasquez trying to control but Gnarr is working from the bottom. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. It's a sloppy attempt though and Velasquez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gnarr is looking to stand up but Velasquez isn't so interested in that idea. Gnarr swivels though and keeps the full guard. #SUB# Velasquez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gnarr manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Velasquez has Gnarr in his guard.#REVB# Gnarr wants to pass the guard but Velasquez is keeping the position. Gnarr missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. #T4# Gnarr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Gnarr throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gnarr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Velasquez keeping full guard, as Gnarr tries to pass. Gnarr won't allow Velasquez to get back to his feet. #ES# Velasquez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gnarr off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. #CL2# Velasquez gets tackled into the cage by Gnarr. Gnarr maintains the clinch. Gnarr blocks a body shot from Velasquez. #BC2# Gnarr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Gnarr is looking to clinch but Velasquez is avoiding it.
Velasquez throws out a loose jab but Gnarr uses good head movement to avoid it. Gnarr slips a straight right by Velasquez. Gnarr steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Velasquez. Gnarr wants to clinch. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Victor Velasquez will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. Gnarr ducked under it nicely. Velasquez misses with a head kick.
As Velasquez backs off Gnarr throws a huge counter combo but Velasquez manages to avoid it all.#T1# Gnarr wants to clinch. Gnarr ducks under a wild hook from Velasquez. Gnarr is looking to clinch but Velasquez is avoiding it.
Gnarr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Velasquez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Velasquez is looking to counter punch. Velasquez pushes down on Gnarr's head and hops out. Victor Velasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Velasquez loads up on a big right hand but Gnarr slips the punch.#T2##CL# Velasquez has closed the distance and engaged Gnarr in a clinch.

Victor Velasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rag Gnarr. Gnarr blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Velasquez lands a really nice looking cross but Gnarr seems unphased.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A solid leg kick lands there for Velasquez.

It looked like Velasquez wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Gnarr steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Velasquez.#CL2# Gnarr moves into the clinch. Velasquez lands a right hand. #TD2# Gnarr gets control of Velasquez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gnarr will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Gnarr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. #REVB# Gnarr thows a huge punch but Velasquez dodges it nicely.
Gnarr has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gnarr is keen to just control but Velasquez is a slippery customer. Velasquez tries to roll over but Gnarr keeps him under control. Gnarr looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Let's hope that Gnarr has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.#T4# Velasquez is looking to escape. Velasquez is looking for a sweep. Gnarr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gnarr tries to stand but can't do so whilst Velasquez controls his leg. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Velasquez tries to roll over but Gnarr keeps him under control. Gnarr passes the guard and advances to mount! Gnarr with shots to the head and body - Velasquez looks very uncomfortable down there. #CUT2#It looks like Victor Velasquez has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Velasquez really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

This is the final round!#R3##TD2# Excellent takedown into side control there by Gnarr. #SU2# Gnarr stands up. A jab from Velasquez misses. Velasquez tries to clinch up but Gnarr circles away and keeps his distance. Gnarr is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Velasquez with a body shot. Gnarr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Velasquez's waist but Velasquez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gnarr off to one side. Velasquez lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.#TD2# A momentary lapse in concentration from Velasquez enables Gnarr to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Velasquez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are working up against the cage. Velasquez manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Velasquez prevents a takedown attempt there.
#BC2# Gnarr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gnarr checks a leg kick nicely. Velasquez throws a nice outside leg kick. Gnarr dives in for a single leg takedown but Velasquez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. An attempted straight right counter from Velasquez misses the target. Victor Velasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rag Gnarr.#T1# Velasquez swats away the attempt to clinch by Gnarr. Gnarr blocks a leg kick. Gnarr goes for a double leg but Velasquez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Velasquez continues to drive forward. That kick from Velasquez tenderised Gnarr's leg. Gnarr is trying to keep his angry face on. A decent looking cross lands there for Velasquez. Nice cross by Gnarr. Gnarr uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Velasquez. Velasquez fails to land with a series of punches.

Velasquez tries to avoid it but Gnarr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Velasquez to the ground. Velasquez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Velasquez looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gnarr crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Velasquez - the referee stops the clock and Gnarr gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Velasquez. Gnarr manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Velasquez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gnarr can do to turn this around? Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!#TD2# Gnarr drives through with a takedown into Velasquez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Gnarr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Gnarr prevents Velasquez from getting back to his feet. Velasquez working a defensive guard here.

Velasquez tries to sprawl out of it but Gnarr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Velasquez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Velasquez stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gnarr. The fighters circling - Velasquez throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Victor Velasquez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Velasquez attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Gnarr with a lazy takedown attempt and Velasquez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Rag Gnarr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Velasquez throws a sloppy head kick and Gnarr moves out of range easily. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gnarr.
And that's the end of the fight! Victor Velasquez showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Velasquez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawk misses with a lunging right hand
and Velasquez counters with a solid body kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Velasquez. Hawk does a little dance to reset his feet. Velasquez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Velasquez there as he acknowledges the shot.#CUT2#It looks like Victor Velasquez has been cut. A looping hook to the body misses from Hawk. Velasquez does a little dance to reset his feet. Velasquez feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hawks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Hawk lands the left hand. Victor Velasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hawk throws a leg kick but Velasquez moved away. Velasquez walks straight into a right hand from Hawk - that's dropped him! Hawk jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Velasquez from any more punishment! Velasquez complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
