#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slavoski stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Slavoski wants it to stay on the feet. Slavoski moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Paul staying out of range there. A combination from Paul does no damage. #KD2# Slavoski feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Paul sprawling to the canvas! Paul rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Slavoski finish him?!
#CUT2#Pope Paul's cut is getting worse. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Paul slips a jab from Slavoski.#TD# Paul changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slavoski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB# Paul tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Paul has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Slavoski is trying to buck Paul off.#SU# Paul stands up. #TD# Paul looking to score a takedown here. Slavoski is defending well but Paul drives through and ends up in Slavoski's guard.#T1# Paul won't allow Slavoski to get back to his feet. Paul content to stall in guard here. Slavoski keeping moving, preventing Paul from controlling successfully. Paul is looking to work some ground and pound but Slavoski has wrist control. Paul stops Slavoski from standing up. Paul postures up and lands a big shot to Slavoski's brow. Paul has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.#T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Paul won't allow Slavoski to get back to his feet. #SU# Paul gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. #KD2# Slavoski sends Paul crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Slavoski is motioning to the referee to let Paul up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!#ROC2#Paul is rocked! Slavoski sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Paul's defenses. It connects perfectly with Paul's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Antonov.
Paul slips a jab and a cross from Antonov.
No joy there for Antonov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Paul shoots in looking for a takedown. Antonov tries to sprawl out of it but Paul keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Antonov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Antonov blocks a head kick by Paul.
Antonov unleashes a big counter combination but Paul bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Sloppy strikes from Antonov. Those never looked like landing. Antonov throws a right and a left that both miss. Paul avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jab, jab by Paul - just one landing. #CUT#It looks like Vlad Antonov has been cut. Paul tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Antonov swivels and escapes. Paul avoids a punch combination nicely.
Paul appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Paul looks for a takedown but Antonov sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pope Paul. That's going to take a lot out of him. Paul takes a swing at Antonov's ribcage but misses. Antonov fails to land with a series of punches.

Antonov leaves Paul with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Antonov misses with a wild combination.
Nice sprawl there from Antonov as Paul shoots in. Paul closes the distance and clinches up with Antonov, looking for a takedown. Paul pushes Antonov against the cage but Antonov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Paul is breathing heavily. Antonov moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Antonov misses with a wild combination.
Antonov throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A head kick from Paul lands but Antonov takes it in his stride. This has been an exciting period of action! Antonov feints a jab promting Paul to slip. Antonov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Paul slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.#ROC2#Paul is rocked! Paul tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Antonov swivels and escapes. Oh Paul is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Antonov grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Paul takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Antonov cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Vlad Antonov! Vlad Antonov was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed. |
