#R1# Kuti uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Late.
Kuti lands with a hook. Late tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Late lands a jab to Kuti's midsection. Late walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Late's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kuti under the eye. Kuti misses with a left hand and Late counters with a nice uppercut. Late throws a body shot but no joy. It looked like Kuti wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Late throws the left hand but Kuti avoids the punch easily. Kuti has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts in the buildup to the fight. Late misses with a straight right. Kuti lands a body shot.
Kuti scores with a nice head shot. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kuti clobbers Late with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Late avoids a lazy jab quite easily. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Late! But no joy. Kuti punishes Late's body with a nice straight punch. Late takes a swing at Kuti's ribcage but misses. Late throws a nice looking combination but Kuti bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.#T1# Kuti misses with a left hand and Kuti takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Kuti is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Late lands with a good body shot. Late slips under a jab from Kuti. Kuti lands a jab. Late will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Late counters with a nice uppercut. Kuti works Late's body with a nice hook. Late fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kuti manages to avoid it. Kuti throws out a loose jab but Late uses good head movement to avoid it. Late shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Late has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kuti finds it's way round the side to connect with Late's head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Late connects with a body shot. Kuti scores with a shot to the body.

#T2# Late keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kuti. Kuti lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Kuti takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Late on the wrong end of a nice jab. Kuti slips a straight right by Late. Kuti slips under a jab. Kuti tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Late was well out of range. Poor timing from Kuti. A left lands for Kuti. Kuti uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Late. Kuti takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.#ROC#Late is rocked! Kuti scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.#KD# Kuti drops Late with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Late looks back up at him and smiles so Kuti waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Late is still on wobbly legs! Can Kuti finish him? Kuti shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Late takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Kuti sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Late bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Fela Kuti! Fela Kuti really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Brooklyn Apothecary logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty. |

Late definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Dart To Judas sitting in guard, not really doing much. Dart To Judas throwing strikes from guard but Late blocks nicely. Dart To Judas controlling from the top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dart To Judas trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. #T1# Dart To Judas with a flurry of punches that miss. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Dart To Judas advances position into side control! Dart To Judas lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Dart To Judas taking a breather here. Late is working to avoid the ground and pound but Dart To Judas connects with a decent elbow. Dart To Judas cracks Late with a big elbow. Dart To Judas lands some shots froms side control. Dart To Judas looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Late is avoiding damage well.
Late knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dart To Judas on the ground.#T2# Dart To Judas connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Late some visible discomfort.

Dart To Judas is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Dart To Judas grinds an elbow into Late's temple. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dart To Judas taking a breather here. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.#R2# Dart To Judas shoots in for a takedown but Late shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Late throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dart To Judas stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Dart To Judas shoots in looking for a takedown. Late tries to sprawl out of it but Dart To Judas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Late manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. A counter left hand to the body from Late misses its target. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dart To Judas postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. #REF3# The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. #R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Late circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ibbi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Late's waist but Late gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ibbi off to one side. Late throws a shot from downtown. Ibbi moves away and avoids it. Ibbi goes for a double leg but Late avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Late continues to drive forward.#TD# Ibbi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. #SUB# Ibbi is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Late looks calm but he's in trouble here. Ibbi gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Late is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Ibbi lets go of the hold and Late can pop his arm back in it's socket.
