We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Laddel has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Gabel scores with a shoulder strike. Laddel wants to break free but Gabel has control.

Gabel keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Laddel 's efforts to push away. Laddel tries to circle away but Gabel has him pinned against the cage. Come on Gabel - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Gabel displaying some good clinch control by pressing Laddel up against the cage. Laddel is trying to push Gabel away but Gabel has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Laddel tries to break free but Gabel pushes him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Laddel wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Laddel lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gabel thows a left - swing and a miss! Gabel seems to have got his legs back now. Laddel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gabel.

Laddel is looking to get back to his feet here but Gabel is keeping cool and he's managed to take Laddel 's back.#T2# Laddel is trying to stand back up. Laddel is trapped and Gabel is scoring with shots to the head and body. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Gabel lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Gabel connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Laddel to escape the position.

Laddel is trying to get back to his feet but Gabel has full control of the position and if anything, Laddel has just worked his way into a worse spot. Laddel is still in real trouble! Harvey Spindley really struggled with his weight cut for this fight. After coming in at 174.4, he had two hours to cut the additional weight. He was unable to do so and as a result, his fight with Chick Laddel was cancelled. |

#R1# Nassau fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Laddel checks it well. The fight stays on the outside here - Nassau looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Nassau scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Nassau misses with a wild body shot. Nassau throws a leg kick but Laddel sees it coming and moves out of range. Laddel throws a series of punches but Nassau moves out of range. Nassau throws the left hand but Laddel avoids the punch easily. Laddel throws a big counter combination but Nassau scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Laddel throws a leg kick but Nassau moved away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laddel misses with the combination.

Nassau lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Laddel throws a series of punches but Nassau avoids them all with ease. Nassau walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Laddel checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Nassau scores with a shot to the body.
Nice straight punches there by Nassau. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Nassau. Nassau throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Nassau tries to land a leg kick but Laddel saw it coming and moves away.
Laddel appears to be looking for a big counter. Nassau has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Laddel is landing a low percentage of strikes. Nassau throws a body punch but Laddel moves out of range. Nassau rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Laddel moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Laddel throws a big counter combination but Nassau scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Laddel on the wrong end of a nice hook. Narayan Nassau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nassau drops Laddel with a naaaaasty hook - Laddel is in real trouble here! Nassau dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway!#TD2# Walsh shoots in and gets a takedown into Laddel 's guard. Walsh working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Walsh postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Laddel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Laddel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walsh on the ground. Walsh told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Walsh makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Laddel wants to stand and escape but Walsh is having none of it. Walsh sitting in guard, not really doing much. Walsh postures up in Laddel 's guard and throws a big left but Laddel blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Walsh distracts Laddel with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Walsh in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Walsh works a leg free and moves into half guard. Laddel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Laddel tries to get out of the position. Walsh is trying to control the action in half guard but Laddel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Walsh lands a nice short elbow. Laddel is not content to let Walsh control the position. Walsh is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. #T1# Walsh seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Laddel pushes Walsh off looking to stand but Walsh dives back in and keeps control.

Laddel scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Walsh manages to mount him!
