#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kyoto misses with a body shot
and Cottrell counters with a flying knee. Nice. Cottrell shoots in but Kyoto avoids the takedown attempt easily. Kyoto looks like he wants to counter punch here. Kyoto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cottrell as he jumps to the side. Kyoto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Kyoto with a poor takedown #TD# and Cottrell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cottrell. Cottrell stopping the sweep attempt from Kyoto.#SUB# Cottrell drops back looking for a leg! Kyoto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kyoto manages to kick Cottrell off! Cottrell jumps back into Kyoto's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cottrell sitting in guard here, content to control. Cottrell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cottrell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.#SUB2# Kyoto looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
#SUB# Cottrell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Cottrell passes Kyoto's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Cottrell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.#T2# The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cottrell with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cottrell lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Cottrell winds up and cracks Kyoto with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Cottrell controlling the action here. Kyoto wants to control but Cottrell is keeping busy and won't allow it. #T3# The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cottrell connects with a nice short shot to Kyoto's temple. Cottrell works his foot free and advances to mount. Cottrell takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.#SUB# Cottrell is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kyoto to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kyoto shrugs it off. #SUB# Cottrell with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
#T4# Cottrell tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Cottrell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.#SUB# Cottrell is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kyoto can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cottrell is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kyoto is defending well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kaden Cottrell. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kyoto is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. A head punch blocked on the inside by Cottrell. #T1# Cottrell is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kyoto pulls him back up using the underhooks. and Cottrell counters with a low kick, right behind Kyoto 's knee. Kyoto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kyoto fails with a takedown attempt. Kyoto fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cottrell manages to avoid it. Cottrell changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Kyoto closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cottrell circles away. Cottrell shoots in for a takedown but Kyoto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.#T2# Kyoto dives in for a single leg takedown but Cottrell sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Kyoto is breathing heavily. Kyoto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cottrell wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Kyoto displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cottrell. Kyoto shoots in looking for a takedown but Cottrell manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kyoto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Cottrell feinted with a counter takedown. Kyoto misses with a takedown and Cottrell counters with a left to the body. Kyoto defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cottrell. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kyoto has eaten all the pies! Kyoto with a lazy takedown attempt #CL# and Cottrell counters by clinching up. #T3##TD# Cottrell pulls Kyoto into guard.
Kyoto must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.#ES# Cottrell has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kyoto off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Cottrell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cottrell.#TD# Cottrell looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Kyoto is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Cottrell dives into side control.

Cottrell lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kyoto down.

This is the final round!#R3# Cottrell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kyoto tries to avoid it but Cottrell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kyoto to the ground. Kyoto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kyoto tries to clinch up and Cottrell counters with a three punch combo that has Kyoto backing up. Kyoto nods at Cottrell to acknowledge the strikes. Kyoto shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Kyoto wants to land a leg kick but Cottrell is out of range. Cottrell wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Cottrell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kyoto but Kyoto pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kyoto with the counter takedown but Cottrell avoids it easily. Kyoto is looking to get back to his feet here but Cottrell is keeping cool and he's managed to take Kyoto's back. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Good control from Cottrell. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#T4# Cottrell lands a shot to the head. Cottrell biding his time, looking for the opening.
#SUB# Cottrell is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kyoto knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kyoto for a finish. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.#SUB# Cottrell working for the choke.
And that's the end of the fight! Kaden Cottrell showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cottrell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
