Meyer only half commits to the counter leg kick. Schmidts misses with a looping left. Timoty Meyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schmidts cracks Meyer with an open hand slap. Schmidts jabbing away but nothing is landing. Meyer shoots for a double leg takedown but Schmidts sprawls well. He's pushed Meyer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. #CL2# Meyer pushes Schmidts up against the cage in a clinch.#BC# Schmidts breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#TD2# Meyer drives through with a takedown into guard. Meyer sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Schmidts's guard. Schmidts tries to get to full guard but Meyer has control of the leg. Meyer with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. #T1##SU2# Meyer gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Schmidts misses the shot to the body. Schmidts with a jab. Meyer tries to clinch up but Schmidts circles away and keeps his distance. Meyer tries to clinch up.#T2##CL2# Meyer clinches. Schmidts works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Schmidts lands with a left to the head. Meyer is trying to pull guard but Schmidts has him pressed against the cage. Meyer goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Schmidts tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Schmidts keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Meyer's efforts to push away.#BC# Schmidts escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Good standup being displayed there by Schmidts as he connects with a hook. Schmidts is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Meyer. Meyer slips a jab from Schmidts. And Meyer tries to counter it with a takedown but Schmidts pushes his down on his head and steps out.#T3# Meyer with a lazy takedown attempt enabling Schmidts to counter with a crisp jab. Dicky Schmidts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timoty Meyer. Schmidts misses with a straight right. Schmidts really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Schmidts drops Meyer with a huge uppercut! Meyer drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Schmidts is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

#R1# Schmidts throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Poirier on the side of the head. #CL# Poirier rushes Schmidts and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.#BC# Poirier pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Schmidts pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Poirier looks to clinch letting Schmidts counter with a right hand. Schmidts scores with a sloppy right hand. Poirier should have avoided that one. Poirier walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.#ROC2#Poirier is rocked! Schmidts fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Poirier to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Poirier looks to clinch but Schmidts throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Poirier taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Schmidts has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sanchez to stand back up!#ROC2#Sanchez is rocked! Schmidts connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Sanchez out cold! This one is over in a flash!

#R1# Dilbrandt wants to clinch but Schmidts slips to the side and Schmidts counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Dilbrandt looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Dilbrandt has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Schmidts finds it's way round the side to connect with Dilbrandt's head. Dilbrandt shoots in but no luck this time. Schmidts swings widly with a right hand
and Dilbrandt counters with a straight right hand. Schmidts displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dilbrandt. A jab lands there for Schmidts. Schmidts misses with a hook. Dilbrandt ducked under it nicely. Schmidts connects with a body shot that sends Dilbrandt's belly button to the back. Schmidts ducks under a wild hook from Dilbrandt. Dilbrandt takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Schmidts throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Dilbrandt shoots for a takedown but Schmidts saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dudley Dilbrandt. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dilbrandt takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Dilbrandt gets off balance looking for a body kick and Schmidts connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.#T1# Dilbrandt gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Schmidts gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Dilbrandt is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

#R1# Moody ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Moody swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Schmidts cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Schmidts ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Schmidts lands a nice hook to Moody's body. Moody takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Schmidts dips to his left and cracks Moody with an uppercut! Schmidts jabs at Moody's body. Schmidts cracks Moody with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Moody misses with a takedown and Schmidts counters with a lovely straight right hand! Schmidts fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Moody looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Schmidts lands the left hand. Some wild striking there from Moody.

He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Schmidts to score with a decent uppercut. Moody gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Schmidts counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dimitri Moody. That's going to take a lot out of him. Moody is breathing heavily.#T2# The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Moody takes one to the chin there. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Schmidts is trying to get back to full guard. Moody throwing shots but Schmidts is blocking nicely. Moody trying to control the action but Schmidts is working from the bottom. Moody is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Schmidts is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.#T4# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Schmidts circles away from the clinch attempt letting Schmidts counter with a right hand. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schmidts looks to land a left hand but Danton moved out of range nicely. Danton moves out of range of the strikes. Danton shoots in looking for a takedown. Schmidts tries to sprawl out of it but Danton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Schmidts manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Schmidts lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A left lands for Schmidts.#CUT2#It looks like Danny Danton has been cut. Danton drops his hands momentarily and Schmidts takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Schmidts cracks Danton with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Danton tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Schmidts pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Danton is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
