#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway!#TD2# John fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ebonite sprawls well initially but John persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
It looks like John might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Ebonite has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. John is working away from the top position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. John trying to control the pace. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Ebonite wants to improve his position but John is controlling well.
#REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.#T1# Ebonite lands a slapping body shot.
Ebonite with a poor takedown #TD2# and John decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ebonite's guard. John pushes down on Ebonite's leg and manages to get into half guard. John has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. John takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.#T2##SUB2# Ebonite is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. John locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Ebonite is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jimmy John! |
