#R1##TD# Hamadou feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Salazar pushes Hamadou off and scrambles back to his feet.

Salazar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Salazar looks winded! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hamadou tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Hamadou is working Salazar over with some ground and pound from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Salazar parries the strikes from Hamadou easily there. Hamadou is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Salazar to escape.

He's almost out here... but no, Salazar gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Hamadou bucks up and tries to throw Salazar off but instead Salazar has got his back! Salazar misses with an elbow to the head. Hamadou wants to get back to his feet. #SUB2# Salazar is persistently looking for the submission but Hamadou is defending it well.

Hamadou is looking to work some ground and pound but Salazar has wrist control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hamadou throws a strike but Salazar rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. #REVB# Hamadou wants to stand and escape but Salazar is having none of it. Salazar loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Salazar is breathing heavily.#T1# Hamadou is looking to stand back up but Salazar counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hamadou. Salazar stops Hamadou from getting back to his feet.
#ES# Hamadou kicks off Salazar and gets to his feet. Joseph Hamadou seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#TD# Hamadou fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Salazar sprawls well initially but Hamadou persists and gets the takedown into half guard. #ROC#Salazar is rocked! Hamadou lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Salazar quite badly. Salazar pulls Hamadou in close trying to recover. Hamadou postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Salazar on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Salazar doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

#R1# Miocic connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Salazar's hands. Miocic getting the better of the striking in that exchange.#TD2# Salazar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Miocic's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Salazar working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Miocic is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Salazar pushes down on Miocic's leg and manages to get into half guard. Salazar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miocic keeps working. Salazar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. #SUB2# Salazar seems to be working for a kimura but Miocic defends the submission attempt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Miocic has hold of Salazar's hands but Salazar slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Miocic is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Salazar scores with a couple of nice shots. Miocic lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Salazar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Miocic circles away. Miocic fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Miocic throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Miocic throws a head kick that Salazar semi-blocks.

Whack! Miocic lands a heavy head kick that drops Salazar. The ref tackles Miocic to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Salazar was done.

Salazar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Salazar shoots in looking for a takedown but Toguchi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Salazar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miller Salazar. That's going to take a lot out of him. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Salazar. Toguchi looks to score with a jab to the body but Salazar is just out of range. A big left from Toguchi misses. Salazar shoots in looking for a takedown. Toguchi tries to sprawl out of it but Salazar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage.
