#R1# The fight stays on the outside here - Newman looks like he's thinking about clinching though. James fails with a takedown attempt. Newman closes the distance and lands a one-two. Newman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
#CL# Newman gets a clinch. Newman wants to get back to striking at distance but James won't allow it.
Newman tries to score a body lock takedown but James shows good agility there to stay on his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#BC2# James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
#CL# Newman closes the distance and clinches. Newman tries to circle away but James has him pinned against the cage. James blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
James is struggling to control the position.#T1# James has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Newman after a bit of a struggle. Newman tries for a takedown. No joy.
#BC# Newman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.#CL2# James clinches. #BC2# James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.#CL2# James instigates a clinch. Newman fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Newman. That's going to take a lot out of him. James is struggling to control the position. Newman jumps guard but James stands there with Newman around his waist. Newman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Newman trying to control but James is working from the bottom. #SU# Newman gets to his feet. James looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! A head kick by Newman misses #TD2# and James decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Newman's guard. Newman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst James is controlling him. #T3# James loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Newman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.#SU2# James stands and steps away. Newman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Newman tries to clinch but James moves away #TD2# and James counters with a single leg into guard. Newman didn't expect that. Newman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground. James slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. James controls the position. Newman takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.#T4# James is staying tight to Newman's torso, preventing him from escaping. James scoring with punches and elbows. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Newman on the wrong end of some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James lands an elbow. James scores with punches from side control. #SU2# James decides to take the fight back to the feet. #TD# The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Newman scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Abhi James dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.#R2# Newman throws a sloppy head kick #TD2# and James decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Newman's guard. James not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. James passes Newman's left leg - he's now in half guard. #SUB2# James is working for a kimura but Newman is defending it quite comfortably.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James wants to free his trapped foot but Newman is holding on for dear life with his legs. #T1# Newman is looking to get back to full guard here but James has managed to pass to side control instead. James advances to mount. #SUB2# James working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. James looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
James controlling from mount. #T2# James is looking to work his way around to Newman's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. James tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. James is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Newman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

James controlling his opponent. #T3##SUB2# James is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Newman is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Newman flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. James anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Newman and secures both hooks! This could be bad! James slips an arm under Newman chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. James has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. James is squeezing on Newman like an anaconda would it's prey. Newman fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
