Heining fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Davis connects with a single shot there.
Heining tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Davis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Davis lands a nice leg kick that just misses Heining's sensitive parts.
Davis dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Heining. That did some damage!
Heining walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Davis leaves Heining with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Shanikov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Davis thinking.
Shanikov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shanikov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Davis.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Davis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shanikov has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shanikov and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Davis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Davis is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shanikov had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Davis will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
