#R1# Ansson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Takamura sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Takamura changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ansson. And Takamura tries to counter it with a takedown but Ansson pushes his down on his head and steps out. Ansson tries a head kick but it misses.
Takamura feints the counter takedown. Ansson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Takamura is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hragnelf Ansson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ansson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ansson lands with a shot to the body. #T1##CL# Ansson forces Takamura back against the cage and clinches.#BC# Ansson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ansson goes for a double leg but Takamura avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Takamura continues to drive forward. Takamura tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Takamura has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ansson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Ansson wants to take the fight to the mat but Takamura manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.#TD# Ansson manages to pull guard.
Takamura is stalling in the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Takamura forces his way into half guard.#SUB2# Takamura has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ansson defend it? Takamura steps over the head and cranks it - Ansson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Takamura!

#R1# Johnsson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ansson swivels and escapes. Ansson throws out a counter right but Johnsson avoids it with no problem. Johnsson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ansson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Johnsson shoots in but Ansson avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Johnsson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ansson scores with a jab. Johnsson acknowledges it with a nod of the head. John Johnsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ansson lands a jab to the head.
Ansson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.#CL2# Ansson closes the distance and clinches. Johnsson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ansson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Ansson lands a hook that snaps the head of Johnsson backwards. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ansson lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Ansson prevents the takedown attempt.
Ansson is pushing Johnsson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Ansson softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.#T1# Ansson tries a body shot but Johnsson blocks it.
Johnsson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ansson to keep the fight standing. Ansson lands a nice uppercut. A left hand lands to the body for Ansson.
Ansson lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Good body shot from Ansson.
Johnsson tries to pull guard but Ansson holds him up against the cage and eventually Johnsson drops back down to his feet.
Ansson prevents Johnsson from breaking the clinch. Johnsson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
#BC2# Ansson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ansson tests Johnsson's chin there with a solid looking shot. Ansson cracks Johnsson with an open hand slap.#ROC2#Johnsson is rocked! Ansson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Johnsson doesn't seem bothered though. Ansson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Johnsson is breathing heavily. Ansson throws an uppercut from hell that sends Johnsson clean off his feet! He's out cold! Ansson stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Hragnelf Ansson! After the fight, Hragnelf Ansson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
