Paul slaps away a takedown attempt from Ayo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Paul throws a right hand that Ayo ducks under and follows up with a left that Ayo also avoids with ease.
Paul has a takedown stuffed.
Ayo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Paul tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ayo defends well and Paul ends up having to push Ayo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Paul tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ayo just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Paul. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Paul has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ayo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
