#R1# Valuev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Palms as he avoids it easily. Palms throws a head kick but Valuev moves out of range.
Valuev fails with a takedown attempt. Valuev shoots for a takedown but Palms saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Palms swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrii Valuev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Palms keeps the fight on the outside. Palms throws a sloppy head kick and Valuev moves out of range easily. Valuev is trying hard to land a takedown here. Palms sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Valuev throws a leg kick #TD2# and Palms decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Valuev's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Valuev keeping moving, preventing Palms from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Palms controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Valuev not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
#T1# Palms sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Valuev's guard. Valuev wants to control but Palms passes into side.
#SU2# Palms stands up and we're back to a striking position. Valuev misses with a few strikes there.
Valuev wants to clinch but Palms slips to the side#TD2# and Palms counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Valuev wants to get back to his feet but Palms passes into half guard.
#REVR# Valuev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Palms on the ground. Palms frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. #T2# Valuev is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. #SUB2# Palms has hold of Valuev's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Valuev manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Palms controlling from the full mount. #SUB2# Palms swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

#R1# Turner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.#TD# Turner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Turner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Palms wants to get back to his feet. Turner working Palms over with strikes. #SUB2# Palms is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Turner pulls his head out easily. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Palms can do anything to dispel that myth. Palms slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Turner lands a couple of elbows. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Palms controls Turner momentarily but Turner frees himself. Turner makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Turner scoring with punches to the head and body. Turner stopping the sweep attempt from Palms.#T1# Hammerfist, elbow! yells Turner's corner. There ya go! There ya go! #ROC#Palms is rocked! Turner postures up, still in guard. A huge hammer fist lands that bounces Palms's head off the mat! Palms is out! He's out! Turner jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Caesar Turner! A relieved looking Caesar Turner thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
