Pistol has been working on his balance at Muay Thai and BJJ | Clinchwork, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Moose. Moose fails with the takedown. Pistol fails with the takedown. Moose shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pistol as he jumps to the side. Moose looks winded!#TD# Pistol closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pistol lands in his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Moose can't keep his opponent in guard - Pistol advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. #T1# Pistol throwing shots but Moose is blocking nicely. Moose wants to get back to full guard. Pistol is looking to take a break and control but Moose is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. #R1# Pistol shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Moose counters with a straight right hand. Moose looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Moose throws a nice looking combination but Pistol bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Pistol fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Moose avoids it really well and circles away. Pistol shoots in for a double leg but Moose sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Pistol. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pistol tries for a takedown but Moose sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Pistol fails with a takedown attempt. Pistol backing away here, and Moose unleashes a leg kick that just misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A slow jab from Pistol misses its intended target. Pistol misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Moose working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Pistol is trying to keep Moose in close.

Beaver looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Horrible takedown attempt by Pistol or perhaps it was just good defense by Beaver, which made it look bad. Pistol pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pistol shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Beaver wants to counter the offense by Pistol and move into the clinch position.#TD# Beaver gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pistol to score an easy takedown into full guard. Pistol pushes down on Beaver's leg and manages to get into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pistol wants to take a breather but Beaver is having none of it. Beaver really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pistol. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pistol thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Beaver's head. #T1# It looks like Pistol is going to stand back up.
