Pares shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Pares was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Pares prevents Gay from escaping the position.

Gay is still in real trouble! Can Pares finish him?
Pares is putting a hurting on Gay here, landing some big shots from side control.
Pares is chipping away with strikes.
Gay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pares. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dixon throws a head kick that half lands.
A head kick misses from Dixon.

Pares fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dixon sprawls well initially but Pares persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pares uses his free foot to push down on Dixon's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dixon.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pares lands a heavy elbow.
