Araujo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Backman defends it nicely.
Araujo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Backman throws out a leg kick but Araujo moves out of range and Backman only half commits.
Araujo throws a sloppy head kick and Backman moves out of range easily.
Backman misses with a head kick.
A big right from Araujo misses.
Backman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Araujo.
Araujo misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Araujo shoots for a takedown but Backman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mickey Backman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kleber Araujo.
Araujo misses the shot to the body.
Araujo goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Backman throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.#T1#
Araujo dives in for a single leg takedown but Backman sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Araujo shoots for a double leg takedown but Backman sprawls well. He's pushed Araujo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Backman throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

An out of breath Mickey Backman thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.

 

Event: DFN 2: Araujo vs. Kamazat

Jab, jab by Araujo - just one landing.
Araujo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kamazat's hands.
Nice takedown defense from Araujo. No joy for Kamazat on that attempt.
Araujo throws a body shot but no joy.
And Kamazat tries to counter it with a takedown but Araujo pushes his down on his head and steps out.#TD2#
Kamazat closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. #SUB#
Kamazat throws a strike but Araujo manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Kamazat tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kleber Araujo!

Skywagon connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Skywagon takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
A jab from Skywagon misses.
Araujo staying out of range there.
Araujo slips under a jab from Skywagon.
Skywagon throws a body punch but Araujo moves out of range.
Araujo is looking for a counter combo.
Araujo closes the distance and clinches up with Skywagon, looking for a takedown. Araujo pushes Skywagon against the cage but Skywagon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Skywagon throws an ugly left hook that misses #TD#
and Araujo counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Skywagon!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skywagon is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Araujo takes a little break here. Skywagon wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.#T1#

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Skywagon is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Skywagon is looking for a sweep.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Skywagon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Araujo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Araujo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Skywagon is trying to work for a sweep but Araujo has mounted him!

Araujo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee warns Skywagon that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Skywagon tries to lock up and control but Araujo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Skywagon tries to control Araujo's body but Araujo pushes him off. Skywagon squirms to his side and now Araujo has his back!
Araujo connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Skywagon to escape the position.
Skywagon is in bad spot here.
Skywagon is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
We've been informed that Skywagon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.#T4##SUB#
Araujo has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Skywagon! Can he survive? No! He's out! Araujo gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
