and Ham counters with a big right hook, that lands right on the temple! Nazaryan goes down! Ham rushes to a neutral corner to get the count going quickly. This one's going to be close! 3,4,5,6,7... Ham has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Nazaryan is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Ham cracks Nazaryan with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Nazaryan is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Nazaryan is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!
Ham throws a front kick to the face that drops Nazaryan face first to the mat! Oh, he's in big trouble! He's stumbling all over the place and has face planted into the ropes, causing the referee to call an end to the fight! What a finish!

Ham uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Grossman.
A telegraphed right hand from Ham misses the target.
Grossman's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ham under the eye.

Ham throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Grossman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Grossman moves out of range of the strikes.
Grossman fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Ham scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Grossman ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A looping hook to the body misses from Grossman. Ham does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ham throws a body punch but Grossman moves out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

I was talking to Grossman's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

After the fight, Vasily Grossman was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
