#R1# Penn doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ascot counters with a three punch combo that has Penn backing up. Penn nods at Ascot to acknowledge the strikes.#TD2# Ascot closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Penn's guard. Ascot must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.#SUB# Penn has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ascot should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Penn has tightened it up now! Ascot should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Rickson Penn! |

#R1##TD2# Ascot feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ascot sitting in guard here, content to control. #SUB2# Ascot thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. #SU2# Ascot stands up from guard. Let's bang! Ascot misses with a head kick.
#TD2# Ascot decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Rex tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Ascot manages to move to mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ascot is in the full mount, landing strikes. #T1# Ascot looking to control and managing it successfully. #SUB2# Rex has left one of his arms exposed and Ascot doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Rex screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Daniel Ascot! |
