#R1# Gane moves to clinch but Funny breaks away #TD# and Funny counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Funny controlling the action here. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Funny connects with a nice short shot to Gane's temple. Funny landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Funny takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Funny working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Funny works his way into full mount! Funny raining down shots from the mount! Gane is bucking up trying to escape but Funny cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Funny has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee warns Gane that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
#T1# The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Funny cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Funny tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Funny lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Gane hang on? Funny loads up with a big shot that hurts Gane! He's pulled Funny in close but Funny has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Gane survive? More strikes from Funny and Gane is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Doug Funny! A relieved looking Doug Funny thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
