#R1# Name doesn't manage to clinch there - Melikov circles away.
Name will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Name shoots for a takedown but Melikov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Melikov tries to counter with a takedown but Name is quick to defend against it. Melikov on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Name. Name tries for a takedown but Melikov circles away easily#TD# and Melikov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Name's guard. Ismail Melikov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Random Name. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melikov advances position into side control! Melikov creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Name sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. We've been hearing that Melikov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Name taking punishment in the form of punches.
Melikov is putting a hurting on Name here, landing some big shots from side control. #T1# Name is working to avoid the ground and pound but Melikov connects with a decent elbow. Melikov is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Name will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Melikov in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Melikov throws a strike aimed at the side of Name's head but Name avoids it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Melikov landing a few strikes. Melikov scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Name to see if he's OK.#ROC#Name is rocked!#SUB# Melikov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Name is not content to let Melikov control the position. Melikov working the head and body with strikes. Melikov is working Name over with some ground and pound from side control. Melikov scores with punches from side control. #T2# Melikov lands a nice forearm strike. Name takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Name is still in real trouble! Can Melikov finish him? This has been an exciting period of action! Melikov scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Name is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Melikov can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ismail Melikov! A determined Ismail Melikov didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it! |
