#R1# Suzuki fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Malig tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Suzuki shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Malig as he avoids it easily. Malig ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Suzuki moves away. Malig misses with a shot to the body #TD# and Suzuki counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Suzuki. #SUB2# Malig working for a triangle but Suzuki defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Suzuki not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Suzuki stopping the sweep attempt from Malig.#T1# Suzuki looking to pass the guard. #R1# Suzuki avoids a punch combination nicely.
Valentino throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Valentino wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Suzuki has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Suzuki has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Suzuki there as he acknowledges the shot. Valentino lands a nice shot to the body.
Jab by Valentino. A left lands for Valentino. Valentino lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Suzuki backs up against the cage.
#ROC2#Suzuki is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Valentino connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Suzuki covering up! Valentino comes in with a big uppercut and Suzuki goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.

#R1##TD# Suzuki scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Still in half guard, Suzuki seems content to control. McCallen felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. McCallen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Suzuki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#SUB# Suzuki has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can McCallen defend it? Suzuki steps over the head and cranks it - McCallen is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Suzuki!
