#R1# No luck for Fighter with that takedown attempt. Fighter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Fighter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ryu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Ryu doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Fighter tries to clinch but Ryu moves away #TD2# and Ryu counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Ryu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Fighter is trying to control but can't.
#SUB# Fighter looking for submissions off his back.#SUB# Fighter has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Ryu escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Ryu! Fighter can't do much from the bottom here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ryu is staying tight to Fighter's torso, preventing him from escaping. #T1# Fighter gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! #SUB2# Ryu is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Ryu extends the arm and Fighter is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kee Ryu! |
