No luck with that takedown attempt from Havitta. Payne drops down looking for a counter takedown but Havitta sprawls and moves away. Havitta shoots in but Payne avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ewan Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dhadimagi Havitta.#TD# Havitta gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB# Payne is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Payne advances to half guard. #T1# Payne seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. Payne seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Rochester is in trouble now - Payne has advanced to mount! Payne content just to control the position here. Payne connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Payne sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. It looks like Payne might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Rochester knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Payne on the ground.#SUB2# Payne working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Rochester looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Payne! Submission of the night perhaps?
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Ewan Payne! |
