#R1# Sterling cracks Koefti with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Koefti lands a front kick. Sterling darts in looking for a takedown but Koefti gets double underhooks and turns Sterling into the cage. Adrian Sterling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sterling throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sterling takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Sterling fails with the takedown and Koefti counters with a head kick. That will keep Sterling thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Koefti dodges the punch combination from Sterling.

#R1# The fighters circle momentarily. Valverde darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Valverde swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Sterling fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Sterling takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

enabling Valverde to counter with a crisp jab. A swing and a miss from Valverde. Sterling just misses with a punch to the body.

Polo tries to roll over but Sterling keeps him under control. Sterling controlling the action here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#T1# Sterling's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
