#R1# We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.#TD# Bates shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Monferand napping and manages to drive through into side control! Monferand is looking to reverse the position. Bates throws a strike aimed at the side of Monferand's head but Monferand avoids it well. Monferand tries to improve position but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bates connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Monferand some visible discomfort.
Monferand is looking for a sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monferand struggling a bit here. Monferand manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bates's best efforts. Monferand tries to roll over but Bates keeps him under control.#T1# We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Heisenberg feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Batess jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Heisenberg lands a right hook to the body.

Babcock digs a good body shot into Bates's ribs. Babcock jabs at Bates's body. Babcock lands a jab-cross combination. Babcock dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Babcock scores with a body shot.
Babcock definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Babcock's corner calls for a 1-2. Babcock obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Babcock lunges at Bates with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bates's hand. Babcock is looking to wear down Bates with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Babcock lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
