Duvernay has been working on his boxing with his coaches at SYDNEY ELITE GYM in the buildup to the fight. Kursiwa throws a leg kick but Duvernay checks it. Nice jab there from Duvernay. Kursiwa goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Duvernay misses with an uppercut
#CL2# and Kursiwa counters by clinching up. Kursiwa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
#BC# Duvernay breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kursiwa wants to clinch letting Duvernay counter with a right hand. Kursiwa misses with a hook. Kursiwa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Duvernay tries to avoid it but Kursiwa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Duvernay to the ground. Duvernay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kursiwa tries for a takedown but Duvernay sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A counter left hand to the body from Duvernay misses its target. Evan Duvernay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. #R1# Kursiwa shoots in looking for a takedown. Leonidas tries to sprawl out of it but Kursiwa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leonidas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Leonidas looks to land a body kick but Kursiwa moved away. Kursiwa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kursiwa walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Leonidas lands a really nice looking cross but Kursiwa seems unphased.
Leonidas misses with a looping left. Leonidas lands a nice hook to Kursiwa's body. Kursiwa takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kursiwa lands with a nice body kick. Kursiwa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Leonidas as he jumps to the side. Kursiwa shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Liwa Kursiwa. That's going to take a lot out of him.#T1# Kursiwa avoids the body shot from Leonidas.

Leonidas stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.#T2# Kursiwa chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Leonidas can pounce on him.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Holl is trying to get back to full guard.
