McCoy looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Smith puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Smith prevents McCoy from improving his position.
McCoy is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McCoy avoid being mounted?

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McCoy can do anything to dispel that myth.

McCoy stands up over Smith, holding on to his feet. McCoy throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Smith is out cold! McCoy lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!

Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Weideman, who protects the arm well.
Weideman avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Smith.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith is staying tight to Weideman's torso, preventing him from escaping. #T1#
Check out the look on Smith's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Weideman for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smith cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Weideman seems to be stalking Smith here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastating head kick! Smith drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
