#R1# Culligan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Paulie swats away the attempt to clinch by Culligan.#TD# Paulie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Culligan to the mat! Culligan manages to get full guard. Paulie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Paulie advances position into side control! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paulie scores with punches from side control. Paulie is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Culligan's shoulder. That is not cool. #T1# Paulie connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Culligan some visible discomfort.
Paulie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Paulie content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. #T2# My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Paulie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Paulie grinds an elbow into Culligan's temple. Paulie is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Paulie landing a few strikes. #SU# Paulie has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. #T3##CL# Culligan tries to keep at a distance but Paulie has taken the fight into the clinch.#TD# Paulie pulls guard. Culligan is looking to stand up but Paulie won't let him. #ES# Paulie pushes Culligan off and gets back to his feet.

#TD# Paulie has Culligan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Paulie pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Culligan tumbling to the mat - Paulie dives into Culligan's guard. Culligan is looking to stand back up but Paulie counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Culligan. Culligan looks winded!#REVB# Paulie has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. #T4# Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Paulie content just to control the position here. Culligan taking shots to the head. Paulie sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Culligan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Paulie is in the full mount, landing strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paulie is landing with some decent strikes but Culligan is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Paulie landing shots from mount. Paulie dominating with strikes here. Paulie controlling from mount. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ruth Paulie dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!#R2##TD# Paulie shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Culligan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Culligan wants to sweep here but Paulie controlling him for the moment. Paulie scoring with punches to the head and body. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paulie's corner is telling him to maintain position. Paulie working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Culligan's head. Paulie lands a couple of digs. Paulie not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Culligan is breathing heavily.#T1# Paulie scoring with punches to the head and body. Paulie postures up and lands a big shot to Culligan's brow. Paulie is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Paulie not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. This is a sustained period of stalling by Paulie.#T2# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Paulie passes Culligan's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Paulie takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Paulie's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Paulie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Culligan can do to turn this around? The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Paulie lands a nice short elbow.#SUB# Paulie in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Culligan tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Paulie!
