Bates fails with a takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bates.
A little feinted left hand from Quintan on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Bates fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Quintan avoids it really well and circles away.
Quintan is looking to counter punch.
Rogerio Quintan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Todd Bates.#TD2#
Bates closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bates misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hauki looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Bates with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hauki cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hauki stuffs the takedown attempt from Bates. Bates gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Todd Bates. That's going to take a lot out of him.#TD#

Bates looks up at the clock and then as Hauki takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bates smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bates is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Bates gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Bates gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Bates apologises and we restart here on the feet.
