#R1# Deffra shoots in looking for a takedown but Mesquita manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Deffra's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Mesquita was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Mesquita shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Deffra as he avoids it easily. Deffra shoots and misses #TD# and Mesquita counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Mesquita definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Mesquita is in close to Deffra's body, working some short punches and elbows. Deffra working a defensive guard but Mesquita manages to pass into side control anyway.
Deffra really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mesquita. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mesquita throws an elbow but Deffra slips to the side and avoids it well.#SUB# Mesquita is trying to get an arm triangle but Deffra is defending well. Mesquita lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. #SUB# Mesquita is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Deffra is trying to escape and Mesquita transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Deffra is forced to tap! Nice work there by Mesquita! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Richard Mesquita! |

Perry taking a bit of punishment here - Deffra scoring with strikes. #SUB2# Deffra is working to tighten his grip on Perry's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Perry has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Deffra is really squeezing tight and eventually Perry passes out! Deffra breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

#R1# Deffra with a lazy takedown attempt and Rouhini counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. A lazy body kick from Deffra and Rouhini counters with a stiff right hand. Deffra tries for a takedown but Rouhini sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.#TD# Rouhini closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Deffra did well to prevent Rouhini getting side control. Rouhini looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Deffra with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. #ROC#Deffra is rocked! Rouhini scores with a big shot! Deffra's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Deffra! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gabe Rouhini! A less than humble Gabe Rouhini misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities. |
