Wallington throws a fast counter high kick but Sokolov manages to duck under it in time.
Sokolov shoots for a takedown but Wallington saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Wallington leaves Sokolov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nikolay Sokolov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wallington lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Sokolov up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Wallington from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Sokolov's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Sokolov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Scarlet quickly recovers to half guard.
Sokolov passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Scarlet!
Sokolov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee warns Scarlet that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sokolov working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Sokolov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gustav sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Sokolov showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gustav.
Gustav throws a leg kick but Sokolov checks it.
Sokolov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gustav tries to avoid it but Sokolov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gustav to the ground. Gustav escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. #TD2#
Sokolov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gustav to the ground. Sokolov is now in Gustav's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sokolov wants to control from the top but Gustav keeps moving.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sokolov's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Sokolov looks up at the clock and then as Gustav takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sokolov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Sokolov shoots in and bounces Flamingo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Flamingo is looking to stand up but Sokolov isn't so interested in that idea.
Sokolov postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
