Nutz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nutz shoots in for a double leg but Dukes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Dukes misses with the combination.
A head kick misses from Dukes. Dukes has been working on his boxing with his coaches at MMA Training and Sparring Buddies in the buildup to the fight. Dukes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nutz. Nutz swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Nutz looks to land a body kick but Dukes moved away.#CL2# Nutz has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#TD2# Nutz has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Dukes regains guard immediately. Nutz looking to pass the guard. Dukes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dukes's guard. Nutz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. #SUB2# Nutz has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Dukes defend it? Nutz steps over the head and cranks it - Dukes is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Nutz!

#R1##TD2# Nutz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nutz lands in his opponent's guard. Nutz trying to control the position from guard on top but Kurtev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kurtev being controlled here, momentarily. Nutz forces his way into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nutz blocks the strikes from Kurtev.
Kurtev is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Fryes pit, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Nutz is trying to control. Kurtev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Tonioli pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nutz uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tonioli. Tonioli throws a hook to the side of Nutz's head but Nutz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nutz walks straight into a right hand from Tonioli - that's dropped him! Tonioli jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Nutz from any more punishment! Nutz complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Vinicius Tonioli! Vinicius Tonioli really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that 30th Century Beer Store logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty. Whole Nutz spoke after the fight, saying 'Death be to you all. '. |

#R1# Chase missing with a left hand there. Nutz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Nutz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chase defends it nicely. Chase has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Nutz throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Chase swings for the body but Nutz moves out of range.
Nutz is looking to clinch but Chase is avoiding it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Chase. Nutz staying out of range there. Nutz misses with a takedown attempt - Chase sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's going to take a lot out of Whole Nutz. Chase feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nutzs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!#TD# Chase closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nutz quickly recovers to half guard. Nutz has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Chase is on him like a limpet, forcing Nutz back against the cage. Nutz looks winded! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nutz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Chase gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Chase checks a low kick from Nutz. Chase shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Nutz throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Nice shot lands for Chase. Chase lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Chase defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nutz. Chase was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Chase lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Chase connects with a nice looking jab.
#KD# Chase lands a big right hand that sends Nutz crashing to the mat! Chase stays standing though and waves Nutz back to his feet!#ROC#Nutz is rocked! Chase is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. BOOM! Chase lands a beautiful left hook that drops Nutz. Nutz tries to recover but Chase is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Nutz lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

#R1# Point cracks Nutz with a right hand to the side of the head. Point throws a body shot but no joy. A punch combination from Nutz misses. Point throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Nutz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Nutz on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Point tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nutz was well out of range. Poor timing from Point. Point stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Point wants it to stay on the feet. A left lands for Point. Nutz definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kane Point seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nutz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Point sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Point keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A slapping body kick lands there for Point. Nutz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Nutz has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nutz there as he acknowledges the shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Point throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A quick step to the side and Nutz tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Nutz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Point has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Nutz is landing a low percentage of strikes.#T1# Good standup being displayed there by Point as he connects with a hook. Point with a body punch. A glancing blow. The crowd cheers as Point lands an impressive looking overhand right. Nutz doesn't seem phased though. Point pushes Nutz away with a front kick. Point thows a body kick. Nutz tries to catch it but that hurt him. Nutz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Point as he jumps to the side. Nutz on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

That will keep Nutz thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Nutz takes one on the chin but seems OK.

This has been an exciting period of action! Point controls the position. Nutz is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Point, as that shot connected.
Nutz will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Nutz misses with a takedown attempt - Point sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Point fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.#TD# Point gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Nutz trying to control but Point is working from the bottom. Point lets loose with a powerful body kick. Nutz will feel that in the morning. Point throws a body shot but no joy. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Nutz crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Point - the referee stops the clock and Nutz gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Point. Nutz manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Point's jab looks to have found its range, popping Nutz under the eye. Point keeps Nutz at a distance using the push kick. Nutz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Point circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Whole Nutz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Point scores with a jab. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Point stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Point wants it to stay on the feet.
